Member Spotlight for November
Meredith Wall is committed to quality math instruction. She offers feedback that is personalized, specific, and intentional. She encourages student self-assessment and self-regulatory behaviors to gauge knowledge monitoring. She strategically forms review groups based on students' awareness of "where they are" in their learning. Students value and respect her as a person, as a teacher, and as a leader. Well done, Ms. Meredith Wall.

Member Spotlight for November
Erica Aiken is an exceptional math teacher at Riverside Middle School in Anderson District 4. Picture a math teacher who’s as enthusiastic about numbers as they are about their morning coffee—that’s Erica. Her passion for math is contagious, lighting up the classroom and energizing her students. She designs engaging, fun lessons that not only challenge students to reach higher levels of understanding but also show them how math connects to the real world.
Erica’s love for math is matched by her dedication to sharing it with her students. She is patient and compassionate, always willing to guide those who may be struggling, and she is committed to helping every student succeed. Her desire to see her students excel drives her to go the extra mile to ensure they fully grasp the material.
Not only is she an incredible teacher, but Erica is also a lifelong learner. She stays up-to-date with the latest math ideas and teaching methods, constantly enriching her own skills to benefit her students. It is a privilege to celebrate and recognize Erica Aiken for her dedication and the heartfelt work she pours into being a math educator in South Carolina.

It is a delight to honor Beverly Greenway for the tremendous impact she is making on students and in the broader educational community. Through her dedication, she has created an equitable classroom where every child feels valued and supported, and where meaningful, engaging math experiences inspire students to love learning.
Her commitment to cultivating critical thinkers is evident in every lesson. She has expertly designed an ongoing system of assessments that allows her to tailor instruction to meet each student’s unique needs, whether through small group instruction or whole group lessons. Her classroom is rich in numeracy and provides every student with the tools and support needed to thrive.
Her dedication to continuous growth is evident in both her teaching and her professional development. Through her presentation at the SCCTM Math Conference, she was able to share her expertise while inspiring fellow educators to embrace the potential of math workshops.
We appreciate her inspiring leadership and all she does to shape the future of education. Beverly is a remarkable teacher that is a true asset to her students and the teaching community.

Christi McWaters, a teacher at East Aiken School of the Arts, is an inspiration in her 1st grade classroom and to colleagues across our state. She treats her 1st graders as mini mathematicians and they perform as problem-solvers. On any given day in her classroom, you can find creative problem-solvers at work with hands-on materials. It is the norm to see her students building with various materials in STEAM projects. She partners with local university professors and students in collaborative video pen pals utilizing Flip. She has coordinated her school's inaugural “Math Rocks” Day for school-wide interactive measurement activities and featuring a Math Magician with funding through a 2023 SCCTM classroom grant. Ms. McWaters also leads her district’s Aiken County Council of Teachers of Mathematics as an officer. She has presented multiple sessions for the annual SCCTM Conference. Member Spotlight for September
Miss Ingrid M. Scott currently serves as Instructional Coach of Hardeeville Jr-Sr High School in Jasper County, SC. Over the course of the week, Miss Scott provides meaningful, engaging professional development for teachers, and she also provides thorough feedback for teachers based on their lesson plans. As a member of the school leadership team, Miss Scott often observes classrooms, engaging in the teaching and learning with students and providing refinements and reinforcements for teachers. When asked, Miss Scott assists in the development of lessons and supports district math curriculum guide development. Miss Scott, also, serves as a substitute math instructor from time to time. Although her background is elementary and middle school math, Miss Scott assists with supporting and teaching high school math, as well. It goes without saying that Miss Scott is a jewel for her school community. She is a true model and asset for her school and the JCSD system-at-large.
Miss Scott epitomizes the district's theme this year: "Excelling Beyond Barriers" as this is the work she does and embraces, daily.

Member Spotlight for April
Ashley Seats, middle level math teacher at Meadow Glen Middle, led her Math Counts team to a first place victory at their state competition. An 8th grade student from the team also placed first individually and will be heading to the national competition in Florida!

Member Spotlight for March
Tenika T. Evans is a dynamic, transformational, and responsive leader of math education. Her background includes being a middle school math teacher, MYP coordinator, middle and high school assistant principal, and she currently serves as a district math recovery specialist in Jasper County. During her time in this role, she has worked to transform math education in Jasper County, often modeling for and coaching teachers. Going above and beyond, she has stepped in to teach Honors Algebra I classes and serves as a substitute when math teachers were absent. Beyond her professional role, Ms. Evans serves as a math tutor, and she recently started her math consulting business, Coach Nika Consulting. In this new capacity, she has been serving the elementary and middle schools of Marion County where her unique approach has been a game changer with building the capacity of school-level administrators and instructional leaders. Ms. Evans is truly a trailblazer and a rising math star in the state of SC!
